Below, you can learn more about the specific conditions and service areas Dr. Margaret commonly treats.

Pain & Mobility

Is Pain Keeping You From Doing What You Love?

Pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek acupuncture. Dr. Margaret creates treatment plans based on where you hurt, how long the problem has been present, and how it affects your movement and daily life.

Common concerns include:

  • Lower back pain
  • Neck and shoulder pain
  • Sciatica
  • Hip and knee pain
  • Joint pain and stiffness
  • Muscle pain and tension
  • Chronic pain
  • Activity-related discomfort

Headache & Migraine Care

Tired of Planning Around the Next Headache?

Recurring headaches and migraines can interfere with work, sleep, travel, exercise, and family time.

Dr. Margaret provides personalized acupuncture care for migraines, recurring headaches, tension headaches, and related neck and muscle tension.

    De-stress & Recharge

What Would Better Sleep and Less Stress Change for You?

Stress can affect far more than your mood. It may contribute to muscle tension, headaches, fatigue, poor sleep, digestive issues, and feeling worn down.

    Patients often seek acupuncture for:

    • Stress
    • Anxiety
    • Trouble sleeping
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle tension
    • Feeling overwhelmed or run down

Treatment is personalized to your symptoms and overall health.

    Women’s Wellness

Could Your Body Use a Little More Balance?

Women may seek acupuncture for symptoms related to menstrual changes, hormonal shifts, stress, sleep, and menopause.

Dr. Margaret commonly works with patients experiencing:

    • Menstrual discomfort
    • Irregular cycles
    • Hot flashes
    • Menopausal symptoms
    • Sleep changes
    • Stress and fatigue

    Digestive & General Wellness

Sometimes It’s More Than One Thing

Poor sleep can affect energy. Stress can affect digestion. Pain can affect movement, mood, and sleep.

Dr. Margaret looks at how your symptoms may be connected and develops a treatment plan around the whole picture, not just one complaint.

Acupuncture may also be used for digestive concerns, sinus and allergy symptoms, fatigue, and other recurring health issues.

Balanced Body Acupuncture was a tremendous find! I was having issues with my shoulder, I had pain and limited movement. A friend suggested I try acupuncture and referred me to Dr Margaret and Balanced Body Acupuncture. I was truly amazed at the results. I never thought it would be something I would consider but I did and it worked. I had five visits. Dr Margaret took the time to carefully listen to and evaluate my pain and motion issues. She explained the process and how acupuncture works. The sessions were targeted, painless and actually quite relaxing. The pain is more than significantly reduced, and the range of motion is almost entirely returned. My last session was more than 4 weeks ago. I intentionally waited to write my review to see how the results would last. Which they have. The experience was truly amazing. I am a believer. Thank you Dr Margaret!

I am so happy I found Dr. Margaret Amireh's practice. New to acupuncture, I was a bit nervous going into treatment but Margaret makes you feel comfortable and at ease the entire time. I had gone in for lower back pain that was persistent and with regular treatments I am feeling much better. I could not recommend this practice enough!

Dr. Margaret is a gem. She is highly professional and her office is incredibly clean (which always stands out to me when I'm looking for an acupuncturist). She is up to date on the latest in Eastern medicine while also having a strong background in biology, so I always feel safe in her hands. I started going to her practice in January 2023 to support hormone balance and regular cycles - she showed genuine interest in my health goals and just over one year later I had my baby girl in my arms! I credit my healthy pregnancy to her and her practice. As a bonus she is also super kind and funny and will make you laugh.
I started going to Balanced Body back in December treating stenosis in my neck and pain in my shoulder and arm. I can’t Say enough about Dr Margaret she has the softness touch I didn’t even know she had used the needles. It’s been fantastic and very very helpful. I highly recommend it for anyone. I started feeling relief after the first session. It’s been a godsend and will continue to do it. You’re in good hands with Dr Margaret.

I am not the person who typically writes reviews, but Margaret has to be recommended to everyone! I was recommended to go by my family members for issues I was having with pain and swelling. I had seen multiple doctors who could not identify the cause for the issues I was experiencing. Margaret made recommendations and I am happy to say my symptoms are all successfully managed. We have started to work on issues I was seeing a podiatrist for and after one visit my pain has diminished.

Margaret is knowledgeable, kind, professional and has made me feel safe and comfortable from the moment I walked through the door. She had even went (in my eyes) above and beyond to double check my insurance to ensure proper coverage and explained to me my insurance plan. Margaret even walked me through the steps of finding and filling out all paperwork I needed before going to see her in the office and provided me with a consultation visit!

I would and have recommended Margaret to my friends families and colleagues. Thank you to Margaret for being the kind caring professional you are!

    Questions About Acupuncture?

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Is acupuncture painful?

Most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, much smaller than the needles used for injections or blood draws, and many patients feel only a quick pinch, mild pressure, tingling, warmth, or heaviness when a needle is placed.

At Balanced Body Acupuncture in Cedar Grove, NJ, Dr. Margaret Amireh uses a personalized approach and adjusts treatment based on your comfort level, condition, and experience with acupuncture. If you are nervous about needles, let her know. Many first-time patients find the treatment much easier and more relaxing than they expected.

Acupuncture is commonly used for concerns such as lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica, migraines, neuropathy, stress, poor sleep, and other recurring health issues.

What conditions can acupuncture help with?

People seek acupuncture for many different reasons, including lower back pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, migraines, neuropathy, numbness or tingling, stress, anxiety, poor sleep, digestive concerns, menstrual symptoms, hot flashes, muscle tension, and other ongoing health problems.

Dr. Margaret provides acupuncture in Cedar Grove, NJ for patients throughout Essex County, Passaic County, and surrounding North Jersey communities. Treatment is individualized based on your symptoms, health history, how long the problem has been present, what you have already tried, and what you would like to improve.

Acupuncture may also be used as a complementary treatment alongside conventional medical care, physical therapy, chiropractic care, medications, or other treatment plans.

How soon will I feel relief from acupuncture?

There is no single answer because every patient and every condition is different. Some people notice changes after the first few acupuncture treatments, while chronic or long-standing problems may take more time.

How quickly you respond can depend on the type of condition being treated, how long you have had symptoms, your overall health, the severity of the problem, and how consistently you follow the recommended treatment plan.

At Balanced Body Acupuncture in Cedar Grove, Dr. Margaret monitors your progress and adjusts treatment based on how your body responds. The goal is not to force every patient into the same schedule, but to create an acupuncture treatment plan that makes sense for you.

How many acupuncture treatments will I need?

The number and frequency of acupuncture treatments you may need depends on your individual condition and response to care. A recent muscle strain may require a different treatment plan than long-term lower back pain, chronic migraines, neuropathy, or years of poor sleep.

During your first appointment, Dr. Margaret will review your symptoms, health history, and goals, complete a thorough assessment, and provide your first acupuncture treatment. From there, she will recommend a personalized treatment plan and adjust it as your symptoms change.

Patients looking for acupuncture in Cedar Grove, NJ should be cautious of anyone promising an exact number of visits before evaluating the condition. Acupuncture care works best when the treatment plan is based on the individual rather than a preset package.

Can acupuncture be used with my current medical treatment?

Yes. Acupuncture is often used as a complementary treatment alongside conventional medical care.

Patients at Balanced Body Acupuncture may also be seeing physicians, physical therapists, chiropractors, neurologists, orthopedists, or other healthcare providers while receiving acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture may also be used while taking prescribed medications, depending on the condition being treated.

You should continue following the recommendations of your existing healthcare providers and should not stop or change prescription medication without speaking with the professional who prescribed it.

Dr. Margaret’s approach to acupuncture in Cedar Grove, NJ is designed to support your overall care and help address symptoms such as pain, sciatica, migraines, neuropathy, stress, and sleep problems without asking you to abandon appropriate medical treatment.

    Does insurance cover acupuncture?

Many health insurance plans now include acupuncture benefits, although coverage varies by insurance company and individual policy.

Balanced Body Acupuncture is in network with many major plans and offers a complimentary insurance benefits check before your first visit. The office can review your plan to help determine whether acupuncture treatment is covered, whether a deductible or copay may apply, and what limitations your plan may have.

Insurance verification typically takes 24–48 hours, and it is often helpful to complete the benefits check before scheduling treatment.

If you are looking for an acupuncturist in Cedar Grove, NJ who accepts insurance, this is one of the easiest questions to answer before you walk through the door.
